Saturnia pavoniella

Saturnia pavoniella - sometimes called the European Emperor Moth - is a member of the Saturniidae family. It is found in the alpine regions of Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic across south-eastern Europe to northern Turkey and the Caucasus.

 

This captive bred 40mm larva is not yet fully grown. The caterpillar of the Emperor Moth (Saturnia pavonia) grows to 60-65mm.
