Railroad ranch

Here are three nags in front of the purpose built stable shed. I have enough boxcar shots at the old Heil ranch stables, so I grabbed this shot of the horse corral. Boy does this shot ever serve as a good advertisement for sturdy ranchwear. It would have to be sturdy to hold up to hard work around this environment! A good pair of silt-kickers are in order, too. Plenty for you around here if you need some roughage.

The hill behind was lost to forest fire a while back.

Even though I have been up to the Heil open space before, I didn't remember the corrals and ranch buildings. Maybe some of the accoutrements were brought in from the area that became Boulder County open space. Here is another example of converted box cars up the line that outlasted their days on rail. The car is standard gauge although rails were never laid up to here. Apparently, there was little value in what is left here and that is similar to what the righties have in mind for the U.S.

I'd better get a move on from the look of the sky. The temps were back up as was the humditty. We'll, OK I would have turned in the distance at Golden Ponds anyway but here I am wandering about the foothills and this is another fine place too.
