Signed Apollo Astronaut Letter of Thanks to Spacecraft Subcontractors

Pima Air and Space Museum

Promotional and inspirational letter sent by NASA to key subcontractor staff working on the Apollo program. Dated 17 March 1965, the letter is significant because it includes original signatures of all 30 Apollo astronauts. Two more recent signatures appear at the bottom including that of Frank Borman who happened to be at Pima Air and Space Museum the day the letter was donated.

Colonel Borman recounted that when the letters were generated, all of the astronauts were required to attend the signing, located in a conference room filled with tables piled high with stacks of letters and fresh pens. Only after the letters were signed were the astronauts allowed to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
