Siberian Tiger in the Winter Snow

The Siberian tiger, or Amur tiger as it is also called, is the largest cat in the world. These solitary animals are now only found in the southeast region of Russian. They are also located in small numbers across the border in northeast China and north Korea.

Like all tigers it has its own unique stripe pattern. It differs however, in that it has fewer and paler stripes, but also manes, which help keep it warm in winter.

During winter it thrives in its snowy terrain, roaming many miles in search of prey within birch forests in the region.

Being at the top of the food chain, its prey includes elks, boar, bears and deer, but also smaller mammals, which it takes stalking at close range.
