Banded Damoiselle (calopteryx splendens)

To think that this small dragonfly spends its larval stage on the muddy bottoms of slow moving streams and rivers to emerge as beautiful as it is, particularly when in flight, must be one of nature's little miracles. Of course, this is the male of the species, which being a green colour is equally as attractive,
