The Happy Gathering

One of my previous images showed the first three together. This one shows a fourth which decided to latch onto the line.

Common frogs start making their way to their spawning ponds in February, to the same place where they were spawned. They come under cover of darkness usually following a downpour of rain.

Generally, they are good indicators of spring. Depending on how mild it is, they spawn as soon as they can. The earlier the better. This ensures their offspring receive all the benefits of early summer when insects are numerous.

It all happened over the course of 2-3 days. As soon as they've spawned, they don't hang around. Before you know it, they are all gone.

Many thanks for all your comments, which are very welcome.
