Election Time
Isn't politics wonderful? We have three municipal lamp-posts like this on our property. For most of this summer, all three light-bulbs have been blown, causing inconvenience to our customers, particularly this one, which is supposed to light up the beach at night. Repeated calls to the council to replace the lamps brought no response.
However, there are local-government elections this weekend, and last Sunday all the candidates descended on us to ask for our votes. One of these is the president of the village, who has been pretty invisible to us for most of the last four years, although he is a very nice person.
On being informed of this, and other problems, he was back the very next day, in his own truck with supporters and council equipment. Not only did he replace the dead bulbs, but he replaced the existing old-fashioned lamps with the latest street lighting. As a result, the property is ablaze with light at night.
If only we had elections every month!
