66175 near Brigg

0748 Drax - Immingham diverted via Brigg crosses the New River Ancholme near Brigg. The gas fired power station has no connection with the railway, but is on the site of an old sugar beet works, if you look towards the rear of the train you can see the trackbed of the previous rail connection angled towards the site. The River Ancholme runs through Brigg, just behind the camera, and has been the site of discovery of old boats, the oldest from 800BC. More recently the river has been straightened to help with navigation and drainage, hence the 'New' river name.
