William De Morgan Owl and Mouse, original and copy
Kenneth Clark produced a number of copies of De Morgan tiles in the 1970's onwards. Some of the, such as the red lustre, can be hard to tell from the originals from a single photograph. For the animal series he decided to redraw and glaze in a slightly different style. In particular, De Morgan's designs often go right to the edge of the tiles, which works in a panel or fireplace but can look awkward in a single specimen tile. Here's one of Kenneth Clark's tiles with a WDM original (Fulham period, 1888-8198).
