Lost in the Details
Beautiful Elowah Falls, Columbia River Gorge, Oregon.
This is a very fun waterfall to shoot! I had fun crawling up and down the steep banks of the creek searching out compositions. I shot from 3 different viewpoints and I'm pretty sure this one is my favorite.
I guess in some ways this is a bit of a rule breaker, which fits me since I'm such a rule breaker :) Generally you want to try and get a clear shot of a waterfall without any branches or trees obscuring the view. But I just liked the twisted, bent, and broken nature of the trees. In this area virtually everything is covered in lush green moss and vegetation. I liked all the chaos of details from this viewpoint. For me the details are worth getting lost in.
Speaking of details....here's a fun game....see if you can find Brian Rueb in this shot. It's like "Where's Waldo". If you can find him you win a prize. Well, actually there is no prize. You just get to feel super special.
