Soft Spoken

I love the anticipation of landscape photography. I love arriving at a beautiful location well before the sunset and finding the sky full of beautiful clouds. I set up my camera and tripod in my chosen location and just wait. I sit and wonder how the clouds will light up. Will there be mind blowing colors or will a bank of clouds form along the western horizon and block out the sun leaving only gray?

As the clouds just start to fill with color my heart rate begins to increase. The color builds....OMG!!....it's gonna happen!! It's gonna go off for sure!! Well, that's what I was thinking right about the time I took this photograph. I've learned from experience that when the sky just starts to fill with color you better start shooting...like NOW! Because sometimes the light will fade off quickly without any warning. If you snap a few right at the start, then at least you may come away with something.

I admit that I was disappointed when the sun disappeared behind a dark wall of clouds just above the ocean horizon. The light and colors vanished. I chimped frantically through the few images I had recorded. I wasn't real excited. But I dunno...this one is growing on me. It has a calm feel to it and the soft colors really reflect the colors of the beach. I love collecting seashells and I've noticed how the shells seem to have these colors and tones. Maybe it's so they can blend in with their surroundings. Anyway....this image makes me feel good and reminds me of walking along the smooth sandy beaches around Santa Cruz, CA searching for treasures.

It's not a dazzler. It's soft spoken....like a beautiful girl that doesn't know how beautiful she is yet. My Website
