Robin McMorran
Berlin Holocaust Memorial
A representation of the millions who died in in Nazi concentration camps in the 1940s - each face is a lump of heavy iron about 10cm across. Thousands of these faces are scattered in a long, gloomy concrete corridor.
Visitors cannot avoid walking on the faces - it is as if you are walking on the faces of the dead, being forced to take part in their extermination and becoming instantly culpable for their suffering and death.
