Making Palm Beer
The leaves are cut from the palm tree. the sap is collected via an incision into the trunk. The sap drips into a container. Normally the collecting cup is covered by a basket ware lid to prevent evaporation. Once the container is full, the froth is blown off and transferred into a container, ready to be transferred into bottles. Elephants can smell this fermenting liquid and sometimes knock off the basket lid and drink the liquid.
The beer tastes slightly like pineapple and is surprisingly good, although a little too potent for me!
