Stirling Falls

Sitting between Elephant and Lion Mountains, the glacier fed Stirling Falls drops 146 metres from a hanging valley. The second largest permanent waterfall in the fjord it was named after Captain Stirling who in 1870 led the HMS Cleo into Milford Sound. Milford Sound or Piopiotahi , technically a fjord, is located in the south west of New Zealand's South Island, within Fiordland National Park. Te Wahipounamu World Heritage Site, New Zealand
