I Never Knew Just What It Was, and I Guess I Never Will
I've seen this object, or another one like it, in Glendale not long ago. It was further up another street and was going in the opposite direction, so I could not whip out my smartphone in time to get a photo of it. I've seen one patrolling Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood a year and a half ago. I still have no idea what they are, or what purpose they serve.
I was out for a walk just before sunset, and I saw this object further up the street, the two circles lit up, as if they were eyes or perhaps headlights. I was headed back and saw it ahead of me, standing to one side of the drive way to Karina's Cake House. It was still, no sound, nor were the two circles lit up (as you can see here). I got on the other side of the driveway, took out my smartphone, and got this photo of it. I have no idea if it was taking a photo of me.
R2D2? WALL-E? Robocop's Mini-Me? I wonder if anyone has attempted to vandalize one of these things?
Of course, I only had to look closer and see it says "Uber Eats" at the top of it. So, food is delivered in these things? I take it they don't get a tip, and I'm sure the order is pre-paid, otherwise this little thing will be on street corners with a tin cup.
