Peeking out from between...

The Qutub Minar rising shyly from between the other ruins scattered around the complex....

 

Part of the reason I chose sepia for this was because it was such a dull rainy day and everything felt so washed out in my camera! That apart, the charcter of the Minar and the complex is such that it begs for sepia treatment... most of the structures - or what remains of it - are in red sandstone / brown stone...

 

This is what I found about the Qutub Minar - at 72.5 metres (237.8 ft) and requiring 379 steps to get to the top, this it the world's tallest brick minaret. Work on this was started in 1193 and went on in bits and pieces for close to two centuries, and was finally completed in 1368...
