Moland House (Neshaminy Encampment) Washington's HQ (Aug 10-23, 1777)
General George Washington's headquarters, August 10-23, 1777 during the Neshaminy encampment of the 11,000 troops of the Continental Army's march towards the Philadelphia Campaign. It was in this house that the Marquis de Lafayette participated as Major General for the first time at a Council of War on the 21st of August, 1777, and General Washington first met Casimir Polaski. These European commanders were essential to our success obtaining independence from British Colonial rule. Casimir Polaski was appointed Brigadier General of mounted troops and is hailed at the "Father of American Cavalry".
