Bay Bridge - San Francisco, California, USA

Larger

So, this is an outing that I would definitely consider interesting. After a week of pretty much non stop rain, the forecast was calling for pretty much a non rain day with clouds in the sky for our weekly Thursday after work shoot. When Jave came to pick me up from my office we had a little difficulty deciding if we wanted to go to the coast, which was our original plan, or if we wanted to go to the city, because the clouds looked non existent looking toward Santa Cruz. Well, we decided to go to the City. And from what I've heard here on flickr, it was a wise choice.

So, when we got to San Francisco, Jave had an idea for a shot. He wanted to shoot the Bay Bridge from Treasure Island from a new vantage point. The problem was, he didn't know how to get there. So, what do we do. We spent the next two and half hours scouting spots on T.I. with no success. At one point I had dropped Jave and Lisa off on the side of the road where there was no parking, then I drove down to the T.I. parking lot, while they climbed up and down the side of the hill searching for new views of the B.B. . Well, despite all our efforts, the best view that we could find this day was from the road way itself. Now, this roadway is basically a freeway off ramp with no sidewalk and no space between the road and a concrete divider that separates you from death by falling off a cliff. Well, Jave came up with the "brilliant idea" of just stopping on the side of the road in the car and leaving the hazards on while we all jumped out of the car and tried to take pictures in the 5-10 minutes of magically light that might occur at sunset. Now, I'm all for going the extra mile for a shot. But, while Jave was explaining his "PLAN" to me and Lisa, I was seeing images in my head of the three of us being creamed by Jave's car as some dumb ass would inevitable coming flying around the bend way to fast, talking on his iPhone and slam right into the back of Jave's car cause his car to come hurling at us, at which point we would either get hit by the car and thrown off the cliff, gear and all, or get pinned to the guard rail by the force of the two cars and end up cut in half. Seeing neither of those options as favorable, I decided to strongly object to this "PLAN". At this point, we ended up back on the B.B. heading towards S.F. while trying to decided whether to stay in S.F. and shoot the pilings, my idea, or go to the coast, Jave's idea. Since Lisa was torn on which one to choose, Jave busted out the iPhone coin toss and I won the toss.

So, the best part of winning the toss was getting to yell at Jave while the sun started to set and grace us with this beautiful and colorful light. "I told you soooo" "I told you sooo" while Jave of course only answer with. "Damn....I'm glad I came up with the idea of staying here to shoot." Hahahaha. Well. What can I do. Jave was driving this day. So, I just said. "Yeah......Great idea Jave." ??????? LOL.

I have to say, that besides ending the day with the worst migraine I have ever had. This was a great day out with friends. There was much laughter and the usual amount of $hit talking, which always keeps things interesting. So, I dedicate this shot to my friend Jave. I'm glad you came up with the idea of shooting here this evening. LOL. Hope everyone likes it. :-)
