Semaphore, bird style
having bluebirds nesting near the house alerted me to the fact that in addition to vocalizations, birds "talk with their hands". the bluebird was looking at her mate and spreading the wings in a sequence that must mean something to him. they do that more often than all the others species nesting or feeding on our property. at present they are feeding brood two, with five chicks. three survived from brood one and are hanging out together by the mealworm feeder.
