Journeys....
A Daypack can hold a lot of memories. Daypacks go along for the big adventures, and are essential on the short trips. They may be inanimate, but they can become like old friends, with so many experiences shared.
This one is from Duluth Pack, the makers of the quintessential canoe packs of the Boundary Waters, from logging days to the present.
This small one has been to the lakes and rivers of northern Minnesota countless times; it's been on canoe trips in Ontario and in the Adirondacks of New York. It's crossed Isle Royale National Park in Lake Superior, and went along to Voyageurs National Park along the U.S./Canadian border. On the trails, it's been through the Swiss Alps, Giverney and the Loire Valley in France, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, Colorado, Washington, Alaska, and the Canadian Rockies. It showed up last week in some of the pictures from Algonquin Provincial Park. And of course, it's been along on many trips on the local rivers near home in Michigan.
The mini-cowbell at the bottom of the front pocket closure was a souvenir of Zermatt, Switzerland, at the base of the Matterhorn, but also serves as a Bear Bell when in certain areas where grizzlies and black bears share the wilderness.
