Striped Oak Bug (Calocoris striatellus)

This handsome bug is the Striped Oak Bug (Calocoris striatellus). As the name suggests, this bug is frequently found on or near aak - in this shot it is on a nettle leaf under an oak tree!

They fairly widespread and frequent across the UK, but particularly in the south. They are seen from May to July. Overwintered eggs hatch in April, the larvae feeding on unripe catkins and becoming adult from mid May onwards.
