GX Star Patroller
The Star Patrollers are the backbone of the Galaxy Rangers. These mobile dispensers of Justice are used to search out and capture or eliminate the most dangerous of rogues.
Alright, so this is where it started. My whole reason for the painted canopies was to update the FX Star Patroller, but I got distracted along the way. Finally I sat down and worked out what I wanted.
The forward section set the standard for the other two, in that it was built first. The rear section started off being similar to the original, but then I decided it would make more sense in a dangerous job such as this for there to be two Rangers backed up by droids, rather than one.
But the original design is not really conducive to a minifig-operated starfighter, so I had to look for something else. To me, the whole concept seemed very similar to the Alpha/Beta Fighter pair from Robotech: New Generation (or Genesis Climber MOSPEADA, if you're a japanophile). So the Booster Unit began to take on the shape and role of the Beta Fighter.
Of course, I still wanted it to carry stuff for the Galaxy Rangers, and they have a range of options.
The change in the rear unit is pretty severe, and I expect will either be loved or hated. But at least I hope it's interesting.
