HDR - Tree
I did this effect with HDR. There is a plug-In for photoshop that does it pretty well, but programs like Photomatix give you a lot more control faster. Though they're spendy.
It really quickly gives you a neat effect with little effort; just three photos at -2, 0, and +2 exposure and you're done. This is just a first attempt, so it's a bit overexposed in areas, but I rather like it :-)
