A Single Jack in Motion

A single 1.5-inch-wide jack spinning with motion blur. A steady blue ambiant light captured the motion, while a studio strobe froze the subject.

Strobist/technical info:

The subject was illuminated by a single Nikon SB900 speedlight and the blue LED of a Coast TX10 Quad Color flashlight; colored metallic garland was used as a backdrop. The SB900 was placed 90° Camera Left, three-feet away and two-feet above the subject, angled down at 45° and fired through a Neewer 24" x 24" soft box in Manual mode @ ¼ power.

The TX10 was placed on the table, 90° to the right of the subject to illuminate it, and exposed for 1/3 s, creating the motion blur.

The SB900 was triggered by two PocketWixard Plus X's.

Lens: Tokina AT - X M100 AF PRO D (AF 100mm f / 2.8 Macro).
