Sputnik is painted on a 3/4" mdf panel . The paint layer is 1/8 " thick.

Sputnik is one of a group of found 16" square format panels. There is student art on the back of each painting.

This painting took on a sense of portraiture that I liked. What type of being is it referencing is hard to tell. Against the blue green of the textured central image are some warm pigment dispersions. The bottom cloud was encouraged to grow and reticulate creating a mouth space. The two top antenna were controlled into a specific shape. The head is defined by overlapping shapes. Transparency was an obvious concern in the making of Sputnik. A resin finish layer flattens all surface texture to a smooth shinny flat screen.
