Opportunity's Shadow

The hazard avoidance camera mounted just above Opportunity's rear wheels captured this image the other day, showing the rover's shadow in the late afternoon sun. In the distance you can see the cliffs of Victoria Crater. The shadow includes the shapes of the robot's main camera mast and antennae. In the foreground the ground is churned up by the rover's stalled attempts to drive further in. It has now changed direction to try a different tack.
