The Blue Mosque, HDR

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is a digital imaging technique that allows for a greater dynamic range of luminance between the light and dark areas of a scene.

It works by combining multiple images that have been identically composed but using a different shutter speed for each image. This will give you a range of images that are darker and lighter than the basic exposure. As a result this ensure that you have extra highlight and shadow detail.

There are various HDR software programmes out there but I have been using Photomatix.
