Pathfinder Gloucester to Carlisle 17 February 2017.
I find it a sad reflection of modern society that people are so preoccupied with their mobile phones and social media that they divorce themselves from external stimuli, to the extent that a journey over the scenic Settle and Carlisle line almost goes unnoticed as they communicate with friends, etc, using texts, WhatsApp and whatever. Unfortunately the constant pinging of phones on this tour left me feeling as above.
