Zebra Spider

This stripey fellow is a member of the jumping spider family (Salticidae) and rather than build webs to catch their prey they prefer to stalk it in the same way a cat stalks a mouse.

 

To aid them in their quest for lunch they not only have a powerful hydraulic system to propel them up to 60 times the length of their body, but also one of the best sets of eyes this side of Arthropodsville. The latter is so good in fact that they will often turn and face you if you approach them!

 

I wonder what he's thinking...
