Multimatic Motorsports Mustang Cobra GTS1
Twice I've encountered this wicked-looking Multimatic Mustang Cobra, and twice I've failed to get a good full-body shot of it. Here, it was up against a wall and surrounded by ribbon barriers - hence the tight crop.
This crazy-looking car raced in the 1998 24 Hours of Daytona, running in the top ten for the first half of the race before suffering mechanical problems and falling to an eventual 38th. It also won both Canada Challenge Cup races in which it competed. My brother also helped push it through the paddock at Lime Rock on one occasion.
The car carries the Daytona 24 Hours logo and the names of drivers Scott Maxwell, David Empringham and Jason Priestley. Yes, that Jason Priestley. Maxwell raced the 2010 24 Hours of Daytona as part of the Dempsey Racing team, in a Mazda RX8, finishing sixth in the GT class.
