Lilac-breasted roller
I would love to welcome this colourful bird in my garden but as the lilac-breasted roller is an African bird that is rather unlikely. Thankfully our zoo has a pair of them in their aviary but over the years it has turned out to be quite difficult to take photos of them. You are lucky if you see them at all and if you do you usually don't get close enough for a good photo. On my last zoo visit I spent more time than usual in the aviary because it was a hot day and the aviary with its huge trees offered the possibility to sit down in the shade. After a while one of the lilac-breasted rollers showed up and I managed a few photos although I still needed full zoom for most of them.
