Sad mac

A couple weekends ago my trusty Powerbook (who's been my faithful partner for almost 4 years) popped out of my basket while I was riding my scooter in the Mission and hit a deep pot hole on Valencia Street. I felt a thud on my lower back- it was my bag, having bounced out my basket, hitting me in the back and then plummeting toward the concrete. Plop, plop. Also, my cell phone and a few other small things flew out of my bag (unbeknownst to me,) fortunately a girl on her bike picked them up and brought them to me after I pulled over to retrieve my bag.

The computer still works, no damage to the screen, its just now crumpled on both sides and the screen collapses awkwardly whenever it goes past 90 degrees. Worse, the charger cord doesn't fit well into its socket anymore, and although it is fine when I'm plugged in, it doesn't charge the battery whatsoever so essentially its a brick when its not plugged into a wall. My laptop is now a desktop.

So as I've considered this for a while (even before this tragedy), I'm thinking of getting a new computer. So I'm torn between getting an iMac g5 (desktop, like now) or waiting for the new Macbook (supposedly replacing the ibook, new at 13", who knows when.) I would go for a Macbook Pro, but I'd like to go smaller than 15" this time around.
