1962 – Lost Loco, on the Lost Line..
Taken on August 29th 1962
Ex-LNER/BR Thompson L1 2-6-4T 67735 leaving West Green station with the 5:10pm service from North Woolwich to Palace Gates, on a bright sunny day in August 1962.
The loco had entered service in November 1948, and was withdrawn soon after this photo was taken, in September 1962, and scrapped, and no examples were preserved..
The branch line from Seven Sisters to Palace Gates closed to passengers in January 1963, and closed completely in October 1964. Most of the embankments and cuttings were removed or infilled, to build houses, and today (2025) this location is occupied by houses and flats.. The brick overbridge in the distance still exists, but partly buried....
Restored from an under-exposed, grainy, misaligned, truncated original..
Original slide - property of Robert Gadsdon
