1968 - LMS Diesel Line-Up..
Ex-LMS D3/7 0-6-0DE shunters 12019 with 12020 and two others of the class, at Speke Junction shed in January 1968, and a Hunslet 0-6-0DE shunter alongside..
12019 had entered service as LMS 7096 in June 1940, and was withdrawn by BR in October 1967, and scrapped in April 1968. 12020 had entered service as LMS 7097 in June 1940, and was withdrawn by BR in November 1967, and scrapped in August 1968.
Ten of the class were sold to the War Department in 1942, and eventually ended up in service with Egyptian Railways and Italian State Railways, after the war.
None of the class in the UK survived into preservation, but one of the Italian examples was seen in storage at Arezzo-Pescaiola as recently as 2012..
Speke Junction shed closed down in May 1968, and today (2023) the site is mostly overgrown, with some sidings nearby.
Restored from an under-exposed cyan/blue-colour-shifted original..
