1962 - Steam at North Woolwich..
Ex-GER/LNER N7 0-6-2T 69646 running round at North Woolwich station, on a smoggy day in mid-1962, on a suburban service to Palace Gates, via Stratford (Low Level)..
Steam services ended in September 1962, and the loco was withdrawn then, and scrapped soon after that. One example has survived into preservation.
The station was eventually reduced to just a single track and one - shortened - platform, and was later electrified with DC third-rail, using ex-SR EMUs:

The station - and the line to it - closed in 2006, and much of the original trackbed - behind the camera - was later used for the new 'Crossrail' Elizabeth Line.. The remaining station site and building, seen here in the distance, still exists today (2022), but is largely derelict.
Restored from an under-exposed unfocussed grainy orange-colour-shifted original..
