1962 - Mixed Train, at Hemyock..
Ex-GWR 14XX Class 0-4-2T leaving Hemyock station, with a train of 'Regent' oil tank wagons, and brake second W268W.
The carriage was one of two on the branch, which were originally built in 1921 for the Barry Railway, and moved here in 1951. They were fitted with electric lighting when new, but on the Hemyock branch were unable to charge their batteries due to the very slow speeds of the train service, and so were fitted with gas lighting instead.
The station closed to passengers in September 1963, and to goods traffic in September 1965, but a siding to the local dairy remained in use until 1975.
Today (2021) no trace of the station exists, and the site has been cleared.
Four examples of the 14XX Class locos have been preserved, and one example of the 'Regent' oil tank wagons has also been preserved - at the Severn Valley Railway.
Restored from an unfocussed faded original..
