1959 - Well Tank at the Clay Dries..

Beattie 'Well Tank' 2-4-0WT 30587 at Wenford Clay Dries, on a bright sunny day in April 1959.

The loco had originally entered service in 1874, and was finally withdrawn in December 1962, after over 88 years in service, and was preserved, and today (2020) is part of the National Railway Museum collection, and based not far from here, at the preserved Bodmin and Wenford Railway.

The line from here to Boscarne Junction closed down in 1983, and today most of the trackbed is part of the 'Camel Trail'. Some of the buildings seen here still exist, but overgrown, and slowly crumbling...

Restored from an under-exposed high-contrast faded blue-colour-shifted original..

Original slide - property of Robert Gadsdon
