Coal Yard..

A view across the old goods yard at North Woolwich, in around 1978. By this time, the yard was used mainly for domestic coal distribution, with coal lorries loaded with individual sacks..

In the background, on the left the entrance to the pedestrian tunnel under the Thames, with the entrance girder bridge for the ferry to the right of that, and a selection of LT RouteMaster buses..

Today (2020) the old station platform in the foreground is still there, but derelict. The coal has all gone, and old goods yard is partially overgrown, with a disused vehicle park on part of the site.

Restored from a faded unfocussed grainy fungus-web-marked original..
