'Streak, and a Tragedy..
LNER Greslet A4 pacific 60019 ''Bittern'' - carrying a 52A shed plate - at Kings Cross Top Shed in around 1961.
On the left is the controversial Thompson rebuild of Gresley's pioneer pacific - 60113 ''Great Northern'' - which was withdrawn at the end of 1962, and scrapped.
60019 was withdrawn in September 1966, and purchased directly from BR, for preservation.
Today (2020) the loco is in storage at the old Hornby factory at Margate, awaiting its turn for its latest complete overhaul.
'Top Shed' closed in June 1963, and the site is now under redevelopment, next to the 'Eurostar' Channel Tunnel Rail Link to St Pancras.
Restored from an under-exposed light-damaged blue-colour-shifted original..
