1965 - Shunting the Hopper,
Gresley LNER J38 0-6-0 65930 at Alloa marshalling yard, in summer 1965. The loco had entered service in 1926, and was withdrawn in September 1966, and scrapped in January 1967.
The last of the class was withdrawn in April 1967, and was the last Gresley-designed loco in service with BR. None of the class survived into preservation.
Alloa marshalling yard became less used in the 1970s, and finally closed completely in 1987.
The rail line through here was removed, but was relaid and reopened in 2008. Today (2019) the yard site is mostly overgrown, with trees and bushes.
