1962 - 'Blue Train' at Scotstounhill.
Glasgow AC electric AM3 'Blue Train' - in its original livery - at Scotstounhill station, on a bright sunny day in 1962, with driving trailer SC75793 nearest the camera.
These units had entered service in the late-1950s to early-1960s, but had suffered from catastrophic electrical failures soon after entering service, and had to - temporarily - be replaced by the old steam suburban service.
They were refurbished in the 1980s, and were painted in a distinctive orange and black livery. They were all withdrawn by 2002, and one three-car set has been preserved, at the Bo'ness and Kinneal Railway, and converted for push-pull operation with a Class 27 diesel loco..
Restored from a faded grainy orange-colour-shifted original..
