'Arrow at the New Junction..

Bulleid 'West Country' pacific on the ''Golden Arrow'' in the mid-1950s, on a newly-constructed junction at Petts Wood..

This service was taken over by DC electric locos in 1961, and finally ended in September 1972.

Twenty of the West Country / Battle of Britain class locos have been preserved, although not all of these have been restored..

Today (2018) the track layout here has changed again, and the embankments are completely overgrown, and the footbridge that this photo was taken from was recently removed, but has now been replaced..

Restored from an over-exposed unfocussed grainy original..

Original slide - photographer unknown
