No 8 at Aberystwyth..

GWR 1923-built 2-6-2t No 8 '' Llywelyn'' at the Aberystwyth Vale of Rheidol station, in the early-1960s, with rather scruffy chocolate-and-cream carriages behind... The loco had been named by BR in 1956..

At this time, the V of R station was at the side of the BR terminus, but was later relocated inside the main station, at the former Caermarthen bay platform. For a time in the 70s and 80s, the locos and carriages were in BR corporate 'rail blue' livery..

The line passed into private ownership in 1989, and today (2017) all locos are fitted with a rather prominent Westinghouse pump, and No 8 is in Great Western green livery.

Restored from a grainy original..
