Lynchburg Virginia post card - Holcombe Rock

From the Graybill post card collection.

The caption on this circa 1908 card reads, "Projecting over the James River at an immense height, this rock carries the legend that a man named Holcombe was driven onto it by Indians, and escaped capture by leaping into to the river, as none of his pursuers dared to follow."
