Adam Schwarz, geologist at Resolution, uses drill cores, combined with sonic imaging software, to build a picture of underlying rock structure at Resolution. Sonic images are obtained by lowered a recording device into newly-drilled holes. The images can then be cross-checked with the actual cores for further accuracy.
