DS151 Warsaw Mermaid "Syrenka"

Topic: Every town, village, or city has distinguishing icons and landmarks. Make a photo of one wherever you are today.

Warsaw's symbol is Syrenka (mermaid). Legend has it the mermaid was caught by a merchant and then freed by the Warsaw folk. In return she promised to guard the city, hence the sword and shield.

I happen to have this glass block with the statue inside (how do they do that, btw???). I tried to lit it to give some more dimension to it, and gelled one of the flashes red to make the whole picture a bit more Polish in its nature (white and red are the Polish colors).

Strobist info: two flashes cross-lighting from the sides. The camera right flash gelled with a piece of red plastic, dialled down -1.7ev. Flashes triggered from the builtin controller in D700. Camera dialled total flash compensation at -1ev. Camera left flash zoomed at 105mm, camera right at 200mm.
