Bamboo Leaves
Some of the original sliding shoji painted screens were on display on the first floor of Nagoya Castle--where non-flash photography is allowed. Taking pictures of these amazing pieces of art was a challenge due to the glass glare, but I am happy with how these came out. I hope you all like them, too.
Nagoya Castle's Honmaru Palace was famous for its painted tiger screens. These and many of other precious artefacts were fortunately saved from the fire that engulfed the castle in 1945 during a bombing raid. On the castle's 2nd floor, there was an amazing exhibition of the massive painted tiger screens and other famous screens of dragons, kirin and tigers from all over Japan. Photos of those stunning pieces are not permitted.
