Field of Dreams

Now we are talking “old”! Ball Point Pen on lined paper torn out of a school notebook. Linear perspective realized early. Actually, I don’t really know how early this was done, but at that time I’m still pretty faithful to realism. And what kid doesn’t think a lot about planes and cars. I wish I could find examples of my illustrations Inspired by Cartoon magazine. I think they were regarded as too vulgar - tattoos, long hair, hot rods, rats and all. I would go off to summer camp and when I returned back home some of my things seemed to be missing. My uncle was only twenty years older than me. He was cool!! I stayed in his room when visiting grand parents. He gave me a Jungle hammock and we used to body surf together. He played the guitar, smoked a pipe, had been a paratrooper, flunked out of West Point, was a big fan of the original small version of “Mad” magazine. He was and still is an artist! I think he kind of scared my father. My dad managed hospitals and my uncle could not afford health insurance for his young family. I was not encouraged artistically.
