I've always wanted to capture a portrait of someone on break at Schoep's Ice Cream on Division Street, and while riding the Capital City Trail I was granted my opportunity. I called out and requested a portrait for my #608strangers project as he was, he agreed but when I asked for a little something to write with his photo he informed me that he stays off social media to stay "under the radar." It's true social media can be a rather destructive and problematic thing in the wrong hands, but maybe someone out there will find this photo and share it with him.
This portrait was taken with a 1989 Canon EOS 1, loaded with a roll of Kodak Portra 400. Starting in mid September 2023, I gave myself the challenge to only shoot portraits of people I'd never met before with the camera. Some photos came out better than others, and others will have a digital goes along with it but no matter what I hope it inspires you to do a project of your own, be it on film or digital! Special shout out to my friend @brian_film for processing these.
Check out more amazing portraits of strangers in the 100 strangers group here on Flickr, or if you want to browse my current project check out All the strangers a collection of all the portraits I've done over the years.
