On the day before Halloween I expected to find a few characters roaming the isthmus, and was a bit let down in doing so. Thankfully as I came out of the MMOCA from a photo shoot for the Isthmus, I saw a man walking across State in my direction with a ape outfit. I was drawn to him immediately and as he got closer, I asked him if I could take his picture (as it only seemed obvious with the coming holiday). He easily agreed and as we made small talk as I switched from my wide angle lens, to my nifty 50mm I learned that the unnamed man was a "monkey left behind" from outer space. At this time I asked him if he had a cool looking helmet to complete the costume, he smiled and took a fabric helmet out of his bag. I suggested we complete the photo op with the helmet to show off his awesomeness.
I clicked a few vertical frames as well as a few horizontal but I couldn't seem to get the composition I wanted. Thus why I chose a square crop, to focus on the main details within. I explained my concept of shooting the many people of Madison (aka the (608)strangers and he was happy to be included. I've not met many strangers in costume but was thankful I stopped for this one. So in finding people you don't know and taking their picture, I highly recommend looking past the outfit and get to know the person! Thus as well, why I think everyone should check out the 100 strangers group on Flickr. It's full of awesome everyday people, capturing the interesting people they find on a daily basis!
